Mental Health and Wellbeing
Introduction
Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

“In order to help their children succeed; schools have a role to play in supporting them to be resilient and mentally healthy”.

At Kingmoor Junior School, the promotion of mental health and well-being is one of our ‘most important goals’. We are committed to supporting the positive mental health and wellbeing of our whole school community - children, staff, families and governors.
We have a supportive and caring ethos and our approach is respectful and kind, where each individual and contribution is valued.
We endeavour to ensure that children are able to manage times of change and of stress. We aim to ensure that they are able to access help when they need it in order to reach their full potential.
At Kingmoor Junior School, we recognise the importance of mental health and well-being for our whole school community. In 2024, we were extremely proud to be awarded the Healthy Mind UK Mental Health Award for Primary Schools. This award aims to ‘recognise and reward those schools that go above and beyond in creating a safe and nurturing environment where pupils can flourish emotionally, socially, and academically’.
